Weekly Photo Challenge - Blue

This is the Fallen Officers Memorial that was installed within a block of my apartment.  One of the officers that it memorializes is Deputy Sheriff Earl J. Bucher who was killed responding to a domestic violence call in 1940.

The gunman killed his wife and and the responding Sheriff.  The man and woman were my great grandparents.

"Deputy Earl Bucher was shot and killed while responding to the scene of domestic disturbance in which a man had just shot his wife.

As Deputy Bucher approached the house, the man stuck a shotgun out of the door and shot him in the head.

The suspect then stole Deputy Bucher's gun and pinned Deputy Bucher's badge onto his own clothing. He was still wearing the badge when he was located by a posse. The man was shot and killed by the posse in a shootout that lasted more than one hour."

Weekly Photo Challenge - Photo with a Story

It was humid.  I needed to wait for the lenses to adjust.  This picture was a story about waiting.

Work being incredible busy and needing to wait to take time off.

Getting up and going to the car and realizing I had left the lights on the night before and finding the car dead.

Then waiting for the service to come and jump the car, but I gave them the wrong number first.  And so they went elsewhere first.

Then waiting longer for them to show up.

And then waiting a half hour with the car running to juice it up a little more.

Then waiting in line to get in.

Then waiting for the lenses to acclimate.

Then waiting for the little bugger to open its wings.

I think it was worth the wait.
